How To Launch A Business When You're Impatient AF

If you’re the kind of person who has a big idea on Monday and wants it live by Wednesday, you’re not alone. Impatience gets a bad rap, but for entrepreneurial spirits, it can be a superpower - if you use it right.

I’ve started two businesses - drinknolo.ie - a non-alcoholic beverage company and Up Level Coaching & Consulting—all while wrestling with my own need for speed. Spoiler: It’s possible, even without losing your mind. Here’s how I did it, the tools that saved me, and the lessons I learned (sometimes the hard way).

1. Hire an Accountant Before You Do Anything Else

I know, paperwork is the least exciting part of starting a business. But trust me: nothing will derail your momentum faster than financial chaos. An accountant is your shortcut to staying compliant, saving money, and avoiding rookie mistakes.

Pro Tip:
Digitize everything—every certificate, proof of address, and VAT document. Save them to a folder you can access on your phone. You’ll need these files constantly, and the last thing you want is to waste an hour searching your inbox.

2. Launch Your Website with Shopify

Building a website doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Shopify is the holy grail for impatient entrepreneurs like us. It’s quick, user-friendly, and mobile-optimized, which is non-negotiable in 2024. (And did I mention it looks polished straight out of the box?)

Speed Hacks for Shopify:

  • Get a premium theme. It’s worth every penny to avoid endless design tweaks later.
  • Prep your branding first. Have your logo, fonts, and colours ready to go. This makes setup a breeze.
  • Compress your images. Use JPGs instead of PNGs to keep your site loading fast. Trust me, having to re-upload hundreds of images will test anyone’s patience. (Been there)

3. Make AI Your Business Partner

If you’re not using AI tools yet, you’re leaving time (and money) on the table. These tools do the heavy lifting so you can focus on building your empire.

  • ChatGPT: My right hand for writing content, brainstorming ideas, and tackling research. It’s like having an extra brain.
  • Otter AI: I record client calls (always with permission) and use Otter for transcriptions. It’s a lifesaver for reviewing details and creating action plans.
  • Notion: My HQ for organizing everything from tasks to notes.
  • Trello: Great for project management, though I’m slowly moving to Notion for its all-in-one functionality.
  • Canva + Etsy Templates: Canva makes design simple, and Etsy is full of pre-made templates you can customize in minutes. Why start from scratch?

4. Impatience Is Your Secret Weapon—Use It Wisely

Let’s flip the narrative: being impatient can be a gift. It drives action, pushes you to prioritise, and keeps you laser-focused. The trick is learning to balance the rush with just enough preparation to avoid rookie mistakes.

I still overthink plenty of things - but I’ve learned to take the leap anyway. Starting a business is never perfect, but progress beats perfection every time.

Ready, Set, Launch

If you’re an entrepreneur who thrives on action, don’t let anyone tell you to slow down. Your pace is your strength. With the right tools, a clear focus, and a willingness to learn as you go, you can bring your ideas to life faster than you thought possible.
